Trick or Treat

I have always loved going to places with Frankie but lately it has been a drag. It is not because of him but it is because of the weather. It is extremely cold outside that I hate going outside. Good thing he cooperates with me every time I put his winter coat on. I am glad that we don't have to buy another one because his 12 month coat last year still fits him. We can still close the zipper and his hat still fit him too. We may have to see if he will outgrow it but for now he doesn't need another one. We went to the post office earlier because I need to mail some important documents for Papa. We also went to Target to pick up a bucket for his trick or treat. I wanted to get the Darth Vader one for a little over a dollar but we won't be sure that he will be Darth Vader again next year. I also got a rolling pin because Ryan kept forgetting every time he goes to Target. So far Friday I work. Kenny and Sheila invited us for dinner so we may have to stop at their house and take a quick walk in their neighborhood for trick or treat. She will get Frankie a lot of candies for his bucket and then head back for dinner. I can't stay long because I have to be in at 8:00 p.m.

Bird Feeders

One of the many things I missed in Dad’s place is the big backyard he has. It was where I drove the Kubota around to cut the grass and eventually learned how to drive. I also missed the different kinds of birds that usually visit his yard. I remember sitting on the bench in the back of Dad’s house watching them during spring, summer and fall too. Unfortunately we didn’t have any bird feeder then so most of them just come and go. I missed the big space, the birds and the fresh air.

Honestly, I haven’t seen that much birds visiting us since we moved here. I don’t blame them though because we really don’t have a big backyard plus the houses are to close to each other. I know Ryan misses the country living because he lived to one most of his life. That is also the reason why we want to move out in the country so badly. I can’t wait to have our own big space and we will surely have a squirrel-proof bird feeder. This is also one thing we need if we want to get one for our backyard because we have a lot of squirrels that will surely enjoy the bird food. Last Surviving Mommy

Yep you read the title right. Last night at work one of my team mate which is also a mommy has finally let go. She was the third one who can't take the schedule change and the staying up in the morning anymore while the kids are up. Our supervisor said that it was too much for her. She really didn't quit working there but she wants to be moved in the fitting room which she is only getting 4 hours a week. In the group I am the last surviving mommy. I have to say the schedule doesn't bother me at all and I owe it to blogging where I was so used to of staying up late. The first mommy has 3 kids, the second mommy has 1 but she gets up at 5:00 a.m. in the morning and doesn't give her mom time to sleep and the mommy last night has 2 kids. I am just thankful that although Frankie is still a baby, he knows when I am tired and just plays there if he sees me laying down on the couch. The schedule is really good for now but I don't know what will happen if I get a full time job. Maybe I can change my schedule so Fridays to Sundays. We'll see besides I really would hate to lose my discount.

The Search Is Over

I have been checking out eBay for a slightly used Barney DVDs lately. Unfortunately some of them are still expensive. You see Frankie had 3 and now down to 1. I don't know where the other two are. He seems to outgrow Teletubbies but he still watches it every once in a while. He can even sing one of Po's songs. He then grabs one of his toys and use it as a microphone when Po starts singing. Lately, I have been feeling sorry for him because he has been watching the same video of Barney over and over again. When we went to Walmart one time, we can't find Barney DVDs that we ended up buying him Brainey Baby. He liked it in the beginning but he is more interested with Barney. Thankfully as I was sharing this to Recel she mentioned to me that she would love to give Frankie some Barney VCR that they have and without hesitation I gladly said yes. I don't have to bug Ryan to get him one anymore. Thanks again Cel, I truly appreciate it.

Grohe Faucets

Every morning I used to check our local real estate website to see if the vacant land that Ryan and I liked is still there but for some reasons it slipped my mind and I haven’t checked it until today. To my surprise it is not in my favorites anymore which means someone already bought it. As I was doing more search I found another vacant land in the same subdivision which is 10 grand lower than the previous one. I don’t know why but they look like they have the same size. Anyways, it must be very exciting to watch your house being constructed and probably so much to buy for each room especially for the kitchen and the the bathrooms. Freezing Sunday

We got up early today to go to church since I didn't work last night. I want to go to church because there are times when I can't go when I come home late from work. The homily was very nice and we also saw Sheila and Kenny. They invited us for the church's spaghetti dinner but Ryan and I decided to pass because we were going shopping in the afternoon and it won't start until late. We ended up eating lunch on our favorite Chinese place and came home and took a nap. Frankie and I had our naps while Ryan was doing something in the computer and when we got up he went ahead and took his nap. We went shopping at around 5:00 p.m. and I can't believe how cold it was outside. I even dressed Frankie up with his winter coat already because the wind was just awful. In fact all of us wore our winter coats already. It wasn't bad this morning when we went to church. I am a little exhausted after going places today. I want to write but I am not in the mood. I really need to finish it though before Monday ends because I work 4 days again this week and I don't want to forget about it. Sayang naman! Hope you all had a wonderful Sunday.

Caught

I left Frankie in the living room while I was in the bathroom brushing my teeth and getting ready. I dressed him up first and let him play outside while watching Barney. As I was brushing my teeth I can hear the TV turning on and off and switching channels. I hurriedly floss and came out to see what he was doing and I saw this. Don't worry I know the severity of it and he wasn't in danger that is why I was able to take pictures. Trust me, I will be the first one to freak out if he was.

With how tall he is he can reach and open the small bathroom and the big bathroom. The door knob is different in the bigger bathroom so I really can't do anything. That is why the hallway is always shut. He is getting big jud and we have put his push toy in the utility room for now and his other toys that he can use.

Good Timing

Ryan is still at work right now and he plans to stay and finish what he is supposed to finish until 9:00 p.m. or 9:30 p.m. Someone asked him to work for another area so he is there tonight. I am just glad that today I don't have to work so I am home watching Frankie. It seems like everything works out with our schedule. When I am supposed to work they don't post and when I don't they post. Sounds really good to me. Grandma called yesterday and I missed it. I hate picking up the phone because it is always the telemarketer or someone talking about the election. I missed her. I haven't thank her for the book. I can't wait for tomorrow because Frankie and I will be going out.

Every Christmas from the time Ryan and I got married; we always send cards to our family and friends. There was really nothing special to it but Christmas cards that we bought from the store. I write the messages then Ryan and I sign them together. The first Christmas we had Frankie, I wanted it to be special. Hide and Seek

Frankie loves playing hide and seek and peekaboo. He does it sometimes when we are getting ready to go to bed. He would go underneath the cover and start saying, "ahhhhh" like he is scaring me. It makes him giggle when I try to sneak in underneath the covers first and do the "ahhhh" to him. Recently the hallway closet has been his hideout. That closet used to be where we put our shoes and the winter coats and jackets. We transferred the shoes that were in there to our bedroom and only put out the ones that we used. The rest we sent to the Philippines and some are in a bag. So what is left in the closet is a steam vac and the regular vacuum cleaner. Frankie likes it there because he enjoys pulling the coats from hangers. I told Ryan that I want that closed permanently (for now). Although it is very easy for him to open from the inside because he can easily push it but I still don't like him playing inside. He goes in there sometimes and call me. He always say, "Mama, ahhhh".

In the picture below he didn't realize that I was already outside waiting for him (I heard the doors opened when I was in the kitchen) when he opened the door. That is why he looked so surprise.

Instead of coming out he stood by there and later shut the doors again.
With his tiny little finger showing. He doesn't shut it all the way though because he always have his hand holding the door but I still don't like him playing there period. His Dada needs to figure out something to lock it.

Then after he was done playing hide and seek, he came up to me with a smile enough for me to take a picture and gave me a hug. He was all done.

The Sacrifice Of A Mother

I considered myself lucky to be able to attend high school in a Catholic school. Besides my mother, it was also the place where I was encouraged to read the bible. I admit I haven’t read the entire bible but I know some bible stories. I loved reading the Old Testament and my favorite has always been the story of Moses and the sacrifice his mother did. As you remember Moses was born to a Hebrew Mother. To keep him from being killed as ordered by the Pharaoh, she placed him in a basket made of reeds and hid him in the tall grasses on the edge of the river where the daughter of the king saw him and made him as her own. Every time I read this story I can’t help but remember people from back home doing selfless acts by leaving their family behind to work abroad to give their children a good future. You will be surprised on what we can endure when we think of our family. My father worked overseas when we were younger. He went through the homesickness and he missed seeing us grow. It must have been so hard to be away from the people you love.

Dollar Store

I really want to go to the Dollar store yesterday but since all I did was write we forgot the time and ended up not going anywhere. You see I bought Frankie a coloring book and he loves it but when I tell you how much it was, like Ryan you will be surprised. It was almost $7.00 that I got from Target. There was nothing else there and the $7.00 one is the cheapest. It was big but Frankie can easily rip it off after he colors it. Ryan said that we could have gotten a lot of it from the dollar store . For the past week we have been trying to go check the store in Matteson. I got so engrossed with what I was doing yesterday that before I know it, it was almost dinner. So maybe we can stop by there within this week because he really needs something to color with.

Dentist

I hate going to the dentist. I thought that as long as I brush my teeth 2-3 times a day and floss everything will be ok. My gum bled every time they start cleaning my teeth so for more than a couple of years I didn’t go see a dentist. Well it didn’t work out according to my favor because when I saw them again they required quad scaling and it wasn’t cheap. Luckily my mother in law is a dental hygienist and she did it for me. I will never again let three years pass without seeing the dentist. Thanks Grandma

Dad stopped by last Friday to drop off some things and gave me the book that grandma sent me. She bought it from the antique store and I couldn't thank her (I need to call her) enough. I was so static when I started browsing it because not only it was printed in 1906 but it contains stories that I used to read when I was teaching. It also had long time ago stories of the Philippines that I used to read in compilations from the library before and I couldn't believe I have my own copy. The title is Stories of Long Ago in the Philippines.

I have a history major in college and I can just sit all day and read anything that talks about the journey, beginning and so on. I adore this book and the giver Grandma and will treasure it for life.

Ryan and I own a 4 year old digital camera that we bought from a local retail store on clearance. We also bought some memory cards for it that was also on clearance but only in MB. It works perfectly even up to this point. One mistake that we had though is we never bought a bigger memory card for it and every time we go somewhere we kept on deleting the old pictures even before we can print it. Unfortunately those were pictures gone for good. Luckily on our last vacation we finally went ahead and bought a 2GB memory card for it. I can’t believe how nice it is and how many pictures that we can store in it. Well I haven’t printed anything yet from the last vacation although I promised Grandpa and Grandma but it is nice to know that it is safe.

Frankie To School?

Ryan and I bought this book bag after we came from his 18th month visit. I want him to have something when I drop him off at the daycare. Besides I am really bad at transferring my wallet from my purse to the diaper bag. There was even a time when I drove off without my wallet because I thought it was already in the diaper bag. Thankfully I realized it when I wasn't that far from our house yet. I bring my purse to work and when the 3 of us go somewhere I usually transfer it in the diaper bag and the transferring gets me confused sometimes. Although I liked the diaper bag that Frankie's Lola gave us but it was time for Frankie to have his own. I liked it because it is so small and we stuff his diaper in it, plus the pad and an extra shirt and he likes carrying it too.

Skin Care For You and Your Baby

I love and adore my son so much but I have to admit, I didn’t like it being pregnant. I had so many complications with my pregnancy that the only concern I have was to bring my son out safe. The first trimester was my favorite. I didn’t feel anything at all. It even felt like I was not pregnant. When the second trimester and the third trimester came along, besides the gestational diabetes, complete bed rest and heart rate change, I was suffering from stretch marks and itching. I loved soaking myself in the bathtub just for the itching to go away. Getting Away

Besides the cheesy smile that he used to do, he has recently came up with another facial expression that he thinks will make him get away with things. When he wants something from me, he gives me this look complete with a whine. In the first picture below, he was trying to grab the digital camera. It was my fault though because after he poses for me, I always showed him the result. He likes it that is why I don't have a problem taking him one before but lately every time I turned the camera on and he can hear it, he runs to me and ask for the camera. If I don't give it to him, he gives me this (whatever you call this smile or grin) with a pretend cry.

And another one again when I took a picture of him. He was waiting for me to get out of the kitchen so that he can get the camera but since I just stood there, he acted like he was about to cry but it doesn't work for Mama. Maybe for his Dada it does but not mama. Your mama knows better Frankie.

Perfect Holiday Gift

I always have a hard time getting a pregnant girlfriend or a pregnant relative a Christmas gift. I don’t know if I only need to get the mother a gift or if I have to get another for the baby or if she would mind if I will only get the baby a Christmas gift. Pretend

I woke up yesterday and told myself that today will be the day that I will write. After reserving 5 opportunities, I realized that I am only good at reserving them. I wrote one though and I felt like it was good enough. Later last night we had another Filipino movie to watch. I decided to leave the computer in the kitchen so that we can enjoy the movie. It was another cute movie and we can't wait for the next one. For a change I went to bed early. So here I am again trying to catch up on things. What is important is I have been spending as much time as possible with Frankie. He is growing like a weed and before we know it he will be in school. He likes it so much that we talk to him. Ryan was pretending to cry last night and Frankie was so cute when he was trying to comfort him. I told him to give Dada kisses so that he stop crying and he did but his silly Dada didn't stop. He later started crying to join his Dada with his pretend crying. Ryan and I looked at each other and started laughing. I feel like when I miss home and I cry I have someone to run to when Ryan is not home. He surely makes us happy everyday.

I really don’t mind to be referred as “old” because it means I have been through life and have accomplished a lot that is also depending on how I lived my life. A Good Dada

I wanted to update my blogs earlier but it was just so gorgeous outside that Frankie and I had to be out. I felt like it was a crime to stay inside. Plus Ryan called me during his break and told me that he will be coming home early from work because today is the last day of the nice weather and he needs to clean up his car inside and out. He already took care of the van last week. So the van and his car are now spotless but mine is only clean inside but dirty outside. I did the cleaning but I totally forgot to clean up the outside. I think I was just too lazy to gather the stuff that I need. Hopefully it rains tomorrow when I work to clean it up a little bit hehehe!

Well after he cleaned his car and all the trashcans (yes he wants our trashcan very very clean but as long as he cleans them then I am good) and dry it up he came inside and told me that he is making dinner. I was doing the dishes so all I said was "be my guest". He cooked Chicken enchilada and prepared his lunch and snacks for tomorrow. Yay! He also made salad for dinner and when he was done, it was all so yummy.

Not much for both of us because Frankie already had dinner.

He requested me to make meatloaf for Wednesday because he likes the way I make it. Hummm...

Disney Vacation

We went to Georgia and Florida last July for our yearly vacation and I bugged Ryan to drive down to Orlando for a quick sightseeing. Ryan and I have never been to Disney World, Seaworld and Universal Orlando. It could have been really nice to go because we were so close but he said we can always come back and plan it well. I know there are a lot of things to do there and I am sure we are not going to finish it in one day. Going for your next Disney vacations needs careful planning. You don’t want to just go there and not make most of your time. Hopefully soon we can go back when Frankie is a little bigger and by that time Papa or maybe Mama will be here with us.

Board Exam

My sister will be filing soon for her Civil Engineering board exam this November. Since she got back from Taiwan early this year she has been reviewing for this exam. I chatted with her earlier and I asked her if she is ready and she said not really because she still needs to memorize a lot of terms. I am sure it will be nerve wracking for her. I didn't review for mine and it wasn't that hard compared to what she will be having. Plus she has to do computations and all. The exam will be on November 22 and 23. A day after Papa can inquire about the result of his test. Maybe this is the reason why Papa had to wait so that he can be there for Resty to support her. During our time (my brothers and I), papa and mama were there for us making us feel appreciated and loved. I am sure my sister will do fine. Please help us pray that she will pass her board exam.

Ryan and I went to The Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago a couple of years ago where they displayed the props that were used in different movies such as Star wars, E.T., Indiana Jones and more. What I find really cool was we get to watch a live taping divided into scenes where the director picked the actors from the audience. It was so funny because the acting was a little cheesy. Yummy Birthday Cake

Maddie had a very pretty cake that her parents made for her second birthday. I like the bracelet, the lipstick and the ring that they use to decorate. I also like the choice of color that they used. Not only that it was also very yummy. I don't like chocolate that much but that cake was really good.

Most of all, it seems like all the kidos are enjoying their cake and ice cream too.

Where are you going Frankie? To Bailey again?

During Ben's birthday last June, I saw their other cousin ate with them in the picnic table and they looked so cute. Frankie was still practicing how to use his spoon and fork then so we didn't let him join them because he was grabbing Maddie's cake. This time he knows how to eat on his own and know where his plate is.

Making Fun Of Dada

Frankie and I are so bad but most especially Frankie. Recently, I don't know what has gotten Ryan but he has been begging me and Frankie to sleep in our bedroom. We have a weird arrangement as you can see. Since I gave birth to Frankie, we have been sleeping together. It started when I can't hear Frankie's cry from our bedroom because his Dada snores but since I used to pump 3 times a night anyway, I need to be in Frankie's room all the time and I don't want to wake Ryan up. I love sleeping with Frankie. I love that I can hold him and cuddle him especially now that it has been really cold. He is like a puppy, he likes sleeping so close to me. Plus I liked it when he hugs me and we get to talk before we fall asleep. Anyways since I started working Ryan has been sleeping in his room. Ryan hated his bed but he likes being with Frankie that is why he has been begging us to come sleep with him. Every time I tell him that I don't want Frankie to disturb him, he always tell me that he is ok. Well since we are all now in the same room, Frankie has been doing something silly to his Dada. As soon as his Dada falls asleep and he snores Frankie then imitates him even if he has his pacifier on. I couldn't help but laugh so hard (but had to cover my mouth). I have heard and seen him imitate Ryan snore before but he was imitating him for the longest time this time. I told him to stop but he was just so funny that later I also started snoring and Frankie laughed so hard. Ryan woke up and I asked him if he wants us to move to Frankie's room and he said we were fine. What a silly baba (he calls babies baba).

Raining And Cold

Frankie and I took a nap earlier and when I got up it was raining outside. From 65 I can feel the temperature going down. It was Maddie's birthday party yesterday. Though it rained for a little bit but the kids still had fun especially when Maddie opened her gifts. Ben-ben and Frankie were more fascinated with her pink tea set more than Maddie. She had her new "babies" that she truly adored. So while she was busy tending her "babies", Frankie and Ben-ben were also busy playing pretend (I think Frankie just like the spoon). They all looked so cute together.

I Dream Dead People

The title might seem a little creepy but sometimes I freak out especially when I haven't delivered the message to the right people and they kept appearing in my dream over and over again. You see, I don't know when this gift (as I considered it) started (high school I think). All I know is when someone that I know already died and they want to send a message to their relatives that I also know or they want to be remembered in a form of a mass, they appear in my dream. I then let those who know the departed know. Some people actually thank me and some people feel defensive that they have to be reminded to offer a mass for their loved ones. Like for example my close classmate in high school Mike. He died unexpectedly. I was so devastated when he died. About a month ago he kept appearing in my dreams. They don't look scary in my dream though. Mama kept telling me to let his brother know that he has been appearing in my dream. I kept putting it off because I didn't know how he would react (he is my brother's best friend) but Mike kept appearing in my dream. I don't feel scared the first time or the second time but if I haven't delivered the message I kind of expect it already that they will appear again.

Another example, I have cousins who died of young age. One committed suicide and one died of sickness leaving 3 children. They both appeared in my dream with another baby which I haven't seen before and told me to tell my Aunt Divina not to forget about them and that she needs to remember them. I was not able to tell my mother right away to have her convey the message to my aunt because they were out that Sunday. I kept calling our house and I didn't want to send it through text. So finally come Monday I got a hold of mama. I told her about what I dreamt and I was surprised when she said, "you want to talk to your Aunt, she's here". My Aunt Divina came to the house to ask help from my mama because of her condition. I told her about my dream and she was speechless. She said she has been offering mass for them but I guess it is not enough because they want to be remembered.

I am ok when they show themselves in my dreams but please never while I am awake. Now that is scary.

Immitating What He Sees

Frankie has been really good with imitating us. He imitates Ryan shaving, he imitates me talking on the cellphone and so on. If he is in a good mood and he knows you already, you can ask him to say a word and he will do it for you. She can even pronounce Sheila very well but too shy to call her Sheila when she is around. Every time we go out, I always give him the key to the house and the car while I checked every room to see if the lights are off and everything unplugged. I wanted to go shopping yesterday and had to do some errands with him. He used to play and press the buttons for the remote of my car but now he is doing something else that we thought was funny, opening the main door using it just like Mama and Dada do it.

Ryan told me two days ago that he saw Frankie by the door trying on his Elmo toy keys in the door. He looked so funny Ryan said, he was changing keys after keys to the door. I wonder where is he going if he manage to open the door.

I Love Sundays

I love Sundays. Do you know why because I can sleep over and go shopping in the afternoon. Not only that Ryan always prepare our breakfast. I love breakfast like toasted bagels, scrambled eggs or pancakes. Since we left Target and able to enjoy our Sundays off, Ryan has been making it for both of us and now with Frankie. Yes we all sleep in on Sundays unless we haven't been to church that Saturday. He can be a pain because he always tell me that they are all going to starve if I don't join them for breakfast. So I usually drag myself besides when I sit in the kitchen, everything is all ready. I am a sleepyhead that's for sure.

Heavenly Lunch

We finally ditched the bagged vegetables and save money. I am very lazy when it comes to preparing Ryan's lunch. I usually just open a bag of salad and then dump it in the container. It is not bad when I just opened the bag but after few days it starts getting wet inside that it looks yucky if I serve it to Ryan. Not only that, for so many times now we have thrown out bag and bags of unopened salad because I was not able to use it. Finally Ryan came up to me and said we are going to make our own salad using the celery, cabbage and tomatoes that we have. He really likes eating salads. I haven't seen anyone who loves eating salad so much besides him and his son. I can eat salad but to make it everyday is just beyond me. Well I should be happy because it is cheap and I can easily make it at home plus it is healthy. Below is the salad I made for Ryan last night. After I write this I will be making another one for tomorrow and I haven't decided what to put as the topping. It has croutons, sprinkled it with bacon bits, a caesar salad which is in a different container, cabbage, tomatoes and celery. He always tell me everyday how he loves his lunch. That is why instead of being lazy I always make it a point to make him some everyday.

Working Side by Side

Don't you just love being a mother and learning new things from your child? My issue with Frankie before is I can never write when I am in the living room. He always bothers me, of course he is a baby and the only one and he wants me to play with him. I play with him most of the time and slowly walks away from him the moment he gets busy. My friends Recel and Ritchelle suggested to me about using another computer, our PC that is and browse through the videos in youtube for Frankie to watch. That worked perfectly for their darling daughters Shiela and Triz. He was willing to do that but he has to be seated on my lap. Paraygon eh? Grabe! So how am I going to write? He also doesn't like the rotating chair because he feels like he is going to fall. So for days now as you noticed I haven't really make any update in my blogs because of either Frankie or I am extremely tired. Luckily I thought of something that will makes us both productive and that is giving him his workbook and crayons and he color it right next to me while I do my writing and updating.

He loves his crayons although he seem to like holding it in his left hand. We still need to work on that. I usually give him his pacifier when he is using his crayons so that he won't chew it. Besides his teeth have been coming out and thank God he has never gave me a hard time. In fact I didn't know that it was already coming out when I saw him open his mouth and stick out his tongue when I asked him where his tongue is.

He likes coloring and showing it off to his Dada when he gets home. My mama was so impressed with his motor skills and is already able to hold a crayon properly (although in the wrong hand). This way I am able to do whatever it is that I want to do in the computer. Yay!
