Frankie Was In Trouble
After picking up Papa from the Social Security Office we head to a mall nearby to see where we can have some lunch. It has been a while since we have been to this mall and this was Papa’s first time so I decided to take them in. We didn’t bring the stroller so Frankie was so happy walking without any of us holding him. We went to the mall’s play area and when we got there, there were a few kids there already. I told Papa he can stroll around the mall while I watch Frankie and if we are ready to leave, I will just call or text him in his cellphone. Frankie happily was playing with the slides. About 20 minutes after another family came in with their 5 year old son and an 9 month old daughter who was just learning how to stand. Frankie went by the baby girl who look so fascinated with her but later left her to play with something else.
Frankie has always been a good boy with other kids. There were some kids who would push him before and he just gets up and walk away. He is very friendly too. While he was playing he saw the siblings playing with another toy that was attached to the wall that Frankie didn’t notice before when we got there. He was so excited when he saw it that he ran to them and pushed the baby girl that was standing right next to her brother and started playing. The baby sat on the floor and started crying. Frankie stopped what he was doing and I then grabbed him and told him not to push the little baby or whoever. I sat right next to the baby girl and Frankie sat on my lap. I told him it is not nice to push someone and that they need to share. Frankie looked like he was about to cry. I didn’t yell at him though. The little baby managed to get up again and started playing and I allowed Frankie to stood up right next to the little girl to play. I told him to “share” that instead of taking so much space he was just in the little corner playing. I apologized to her parents and I am glad they were ok about it. I know they are just babies but when are we going to start disciplining them? It is a big no-no to yell at kids in public or when there are a lot of people around them although I am sure there are times when it is hard not to. I know that Frankie didn’t intentionally push the little baby. He was just excited to see the new toy and if he will ever do it again, I will be there to remind him that it is wrong.
