Missing Her
My late grandma was in bad shape after she had another accident in the very same place she had her first one. She was standing on the side of the road when someone was driving his motorcycle so fast, loses control of it and ran into my grandma. She was in her early 70’s when this happened. The first time she was able to bounce back to it really fast because she was a little younger then but this time she didn’t make it through. With her old age, she was starting to have complications after another. It was something we didn’t expect after all she promised that she will wait for me and Frankie and that I will see her again but that never happened.
When my aunts were caring for her, I made sure to send her incontinence products in the “balikbayan boxes” that I sent home so that she doesn’t have to get up to go to the bathroom overnight. She walked a little show and had to be guided to the bathroom. It made it so easy for her and also for the people that cared for her. My mama on the other hand also made sure that she had all the things that she needs. Sometimes I regret why I didn’t go home but when I think of it, she would still be gone when I get there but the most important part is I talked to her before she left for good and she knew that she was so loved by a lot of people including us.
