Baking With Mama

I really like it when I can go shopping alone although there are also times when I enjoy having Frankie around. It seems like I remember the things that I need and I am not in a rush to go home. After my projects I stopped by Target to see if Pops medications came in from the doctor and thankfully it did. They didn't call me again so I wasn't sure if they were able to fill it in by calling. After picking up his prescription and mine I walked around and got stuff that we need around the house. I went by the baking aisle and thought of getting something that Frankie and I can bake. Trust me, I am not good at baking especially from scratch so I wanted to get the boxed one. I also bought the container to where we are going to cook it with.

Frankie got scared in the beginning but when I have him hold the mixer he started liking it. He also was amazed how the mixture started rising. He also helped me pour the mixture into the pan. He waited until it was ready and I gave him some even if it was a little late. I thought he deserved it for helping mama out. He really liked it and even had some for breakfast the next day. I will surely have a lot of baking with my son in the future. It was a lot of fun.

A Salute To America

Do you have any plans for the 4th of July? We have been invited to 4 different places for the occasion but I have to call and let them know that we could not make it. I am asked to work and I couldn’t say no. I was a little sad because I am really looking forward to the parade in down town Park Forest as well as seeing relatives again but I couldn’t make it. One of my friends will surely be disappointed as this will supposed to be our first time joining the parade. She even asked me last week if I have a CD that contains Patriotic songs that she can play during the party. Like a way of paying tribute to America. One Hot Afternoon

I was done early at Prism so I thought of stopping by Kohl's to get Frankie a little pool. I have been wanting to get it for him but I kept forgetting my discount card . I also want to get him some sleepwear because he has outgrown most of his stuff. It still fit him but very short. Anyways, when I got home I asked Papa to pump it for me while I get Frankie ready. He didn't know what it was before but he got really excited when we started putting water in it. Although it was a little cold, he didn't mind. I gathered all his water gun and rubber duckies so that he will have a companion in the pool. I wanted to join him but I had something else that I needed to do. We also need to pick up Papa from Jenny's house because he was working that night. After pumping his pool he left using his bike and need to pick up his tools because he won't be able to hold them while riding his bike.

He was only there for an hour because we needed to help Tatay out.

Falling In Love Every Time

Do you ever try staring at your husband or boyfriend and fall in love all over again? I do that all the time with Ryan. He can be sitting while we are eating dinner and I stare at him and couldn't help but admire so much about him. He's looks (he is the most handsome man to me) and most of all how he has taken care of his family. Sometimes he would catch me staring at him and ask me, "what Sweety?" and I just smile and tell him how handsome he looks today. He then say "ohh thank you".

I should be thanking him for all the love and the support he has given us.
I should be thanking him for teaching me so many things in life and how to be a better wife and mother.
I should be thanking him for working hard for his family and trying to provide a bright future for Frankie.
I should be thanking him for being the sweetest person not only to me but to the people around me. Yes, he has the most caring, loving and generous heart.
Everyday he reminds me of how blessed we are to have each other but I kept telling him that I am more blessed to have him as my husband and the father of my son.

So can you blame me if I fall in love with him over and over again? Nope, because he is worth my love in every way. To our Dada, thank you so much for everything and Happy Dada's day.

Shedding And Itching No More

I never paid any attention of our dogs before until I came here in the US and met Gilbert. Gilbert is my husband’s dog when he was growing up. He is a Multi-Shitzu with such fussy hair. He is adorable but just like any other dog he has his moments. Every two weeks, my father in law makes it a point to give him his bath and hair cut. Gilbert also goes in to have his teeth cleaned. I can’t imagine how much he has spent for Gilbert after all these years. He doesn’t shed as much but he can get stinky in a short period of time and he itches too much. I always felt sorry watching him itch because he looks like he is in pain.

Fat Legs and Clogs

Those are the legs that I love to bite when we are playing together in Frankie's room. They are little fatty legs and I love pinching them. Now that it has been a little warmer, I like dressing up with a onesie or Papa always call them swimsuit competition because it looks like he is wearing a swimsuit. The cute clogs he is wearing is a gift from his Tita Jenny and friend Kyle. I was apprehensive in the beginning because he might not be able to handle it but to my surprise, he did. He actually liked it more than his shoes. It doesn't even look awkward when he walks. When I was younger I had a hard time using slippers because it always slips away but not Frankie. He is even so good with using his Tatay's slippers.

I Am Certain, I Am Sure

After a long process of trying to decide whether to take up psychology, social work or finish up with my major and try to get a certification so that I can finally teach here in the US, I have finally decided to do the latter. You see, my major is Social Science which is very broad. Under it is World History, Geography, all histories (Philippines, Asian) and Political Science. Unfortunately, the learning that I got is concentrated more on the Philippines/Asia that is the reason why I need to go back to school and learn about American History and American politics and other social science related subjects if I want to teach here. Since I am done with the education part of the degree it shouldn’t take that long for me (hopefully). I wish I had thought of this sooner but I was afraid to teach again but after seeing my son, my desire to be with kids emerged once more and now I have decided that it is what I am going to do and this is what I want to do. I also thought that I will waste a lot of time if I have to start all over again with psychology and social work. Ryan is helping me start with the financial part of the process this week but this time I want to talk to someone in the college/university that I am going to. I don’t want it to be like before where I just submitted my papers and that's about it. I want to sit down with someone like the dean perhaps and lay down everything so that we will have a plan so that I know exactly what the subjects that need to get done and how many credits I need to complete it. I will definitely enroll myself with English/composition classes (if it is not required) to refresh myself again. It’s been a while and I am sure I have fallen behind.

This time I am determined and certain that this is what I would like to do. I thank God for Ryan who is so ever supportive of me. So help me God because I am doing this not only for myself but also for my family.

Ryan and I share the internet. We have broadband and I use it wirelessly for my laptop and since Ryan has the desktop he is using the router. Bit-Bit Ug Mais

My favorite time with Frankie besides other things is his meal time because he is not picky at all. It is so much fun seeing him eat. There are times when he doesn't eat what we give him but he would beg on what we have. Just like the other day when Papa and I were eating rice. He didn't want to eat the chicken fingers we gave him but instead he wants to eat rice. Just plain rice with nothing on it. I tried mixing it up with something and he wouldn't eat it unless it is plain rice. He also like eating "kan-on na mais" and loves to nibble on it. It surely reminds me when I was younger and seeing my cousins holding rice or mais (grits) in their little hand while playing. I don't know if mama ever let me do it but Frankie really loves eating it. I was even worried in the beginning because his stomach might feel bad but he was alright. He eats everything no wonder he is getting taller and taller.

Milk, Straw, Pull-Ups and More

It has been 2 weeks since I asked Ryan to buy pull-ups for Frankie. Unfortunately, I haven't have the time to train him. Yes, I have been so terribly busy the past weeks. As you remember I posted here that we have been wasting so much of his diaper because when he is getting ready to pee, he takes it off and pees on the floor. At least with the Pampers pull-ups after he takes it off we can always put it back on without having to worry with the sticky thing on the side. He has been good in telling us when he getting ready to go but the problem is when we get to the bathroom he was no longer able to hold it. I think we are making so much progress here for just over 2 years old and being a boy.

Another thing that makes me happy is he is not using the sippy cup anymore to drink his milk. Well, it wasn't really meant to happen but one of his sippy cup leaked and we couldn't find the other one. He got up early in the morning and gave him a glass of milk. He started crying and won't take it. I thought of using a straw to see if he will drink it that way and to my surprise he did. He has been drinking his milk with the use of the straw 3 times a day ever since.

On the other hand, he has been getting better with his language. I understand how hard could it be for him since he listens to Bisaya 90% of the time and 10% english only when his Dada is home. I talked to him in English occasionally and he is catching up little words little by little. Words like eat, milky, yucky, teeth (toothbrush time), bath and other things that help me realize what he really likes. It makes life a lot easier, that's for sure. He is also very behaved when his Tita Jenny and Tita Sheila watches him but when Mama is around he seems to be active trying to test mama's limits. Well he is two so it is somehow expected but I am just thankful that he is so behaved when I am not around to give whoever is watching him a break.

Through the years of being married, Ryan and I have been blessed with a lot of stuff that either was handed down to us or furniture that we bought from a friend. We got a living room set from a close friend which we thought was such a great deal. We are the kind of people who are so picky of the things we get especially when it is used. We need to personally know the people that previously used it before we can actually use. I don’t really mind but Ryan is just that. He practically wants everything new if we can help it.

Every once in a while Ryan and I surf the internet to check out different things/furniture we would like to have in our house. I was using Ryan’s car momentarily because mine had to be fixed. There was something wrong with my car’s new alternator. The previous one that Dad just put in had a factory defect in it. It was replaced and it is running fine right now. I was so excited that I finally got it back because Ryan’s car is not only big it doesn’t have any air conditioner. It is even funny because my left arm is so tan compared to my right. It can get so hot in there that I was literally drenched with sweat. I really don’t know what happened to his car two years ago but Ryan didn’t want to have it check and get a new Air conditioning compressor. I don’t blame him though because we already paid so much just for them to figure out what was wrong with my car and its alternator how much more if they have to completely change the auto A/C compressor.
