My excitement to see our baby shem-shem died down when I was stuck in the hospital for more than five hours. I was scheduled to go to Community for my NST at 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. for my biophysical. I got there really early. I checked in and was given a wrist band since I will be having two different things to do over there. I arrived at Labor and Delivery at quarter to two and was asked to wait in the waiting area. I waited there for almost 45 minutes. I was surprised since I had the same procedure done at St. James Hospital before with Frankie, and I was in and out over there. I am not a fan of that hospital that is why I chose to go to Community. Anyways, when the nurse took me to the room and hocked me up, she said she will be back in 30 minutes. This means that I will overlap with my schedule for the biophysical.
I rested comfortably and must have taken a quick nap too here and there and the nurse did not get back till after 45 minutes. I was immediately wheeled for my biophysical, but I had to wait for another 30 minutes because I practically did not show up for my appointment. The technician had to call for an override just to get me back in the system again. After almost an hour, I was wheeled to my room again and there I waited. I didn’t know what was going on, so I walked to the nurse’s station and asked them if I could go home. It was getting late and I could tell that my sugar is dropping. I haven’t had anything to eat for the entire time I was there. They were keeping me there until my doctor could release me. I told them that I do not mind, but nobody told me that it was the reason why I was in the room. They immediately gave me something to eat when I told them that I had gestational diabetes. After 15 minutes, I was released at least with a full stomach.
I was really surprised with the amount of time I had to wait for the nurses. I don’t know! I have always thought that they were so speedy over there, but I still love Community hospital though and that would not change.
